Name, rank and why we should care?
Howdy, my name is Will Truran. I am the artist and founder of a clothing brand and design firm called WolvesVsLions. We do everything in-house for our clothing line and also do design work for bands and other artists.
What are you working on right now?
I am currently working on our winter line, which I’m super stoked on and hope everyone really enjoys!
What future plans are in the works? Plug your shit!
WvsL is currently going through many changes. All to make our brand a deeper and more cohesive body of work. We hope to spread a message, which can be seen on our website’s “About” page, and at the same time create art that can be enjoyed and meaningful to the customer.
Who or what has been the biggest influence on your work?
Many past art movements have inspired me, most of which were in the 1940s-1960s. Like war propaganda and the Swiss design movement. Also, movies and music play a huge part in my work. My art tends to be emotional and have a deeper meaning than what is first seen and I feel like my inspirations do the same. Some specifics would be the bands For Today and Sleeping Giant because of how passionate they are about their art. An artist I really like would be Keith Thompson (one of many), and movies… there are just too many to even start naming, but “Star Wars” jumps out!
What is the hardest lesson you have ever had to learn?
Don’t rush, ask for help and make sure you’re doing what makes you happy. If at the end you’re not satisfied with what you have created, it’s just not worth it.
Last book read, movie watched, record listened to?
Currently re-reading “Gunslinger” by Stephen King, just saw “Don’t be Afraid of the Dark” (super good in my opinion), and album would be “Meridional” by Norma Jean. I don’t care what people say, it’s an amazing album.
Fill in the blank: “I wouldn’t be where I am today without _____”
A loving family, supportive friends and the grace of God (not to be sappy or anything).
